“Scottish Company Growth Lags Behinds the Rest of the UK”
This is one of the findings of a report that will be published by Where Now Consulting Ltd on 31st October, ahead of a workshop that the company is running at the IoD Scotland Annual Conference taking place on 1st November 2019 at Gleneagles. The report, entitled Company Growth in Scotland, looks at the performance of Scottish companies and the opportunities and constraints that impact company growth.
Whilst there are many actions that politicians can take to stimulate economic growth and private sector investment, business has a key role in delivering sustainable growth and prosperity. Despite the vibrant business environment, inward investment and access to qualified talent, Scottish companies lag behind the rest of the UK on a number of key measures, including; investment, training and export sales. The result is that Scottish company growth, particularly as scale increases, is lower than the rest of the UK. The report highlights some of the success of Scotland’s high growth companies looking at the characteristics of high growth firms, the pattern of high growth firms in terms of geography and sector to highlight actions Scottish business can take to improve performance relative to the rest of the UK.
The report will be available both in hard copy at the conference and digitally via the Where Now website, at http://www.wherenowconsulting.com
