Cycle for Melanoma Completed!

A team from Where Now Consulting have been cycling to work, to raise awareness of melanoma and to raise money for Melanoma UK. The team have cycled over 1,000 miles replacing the car and train with the bike.

Melanoma is the 5th most common form of cancer in the UK with around 17,000 new cases every year and is sadly on the increase. The World Health Organisation forecasts that melanoma deaths will surpass 3,000 per year by 2025 in the UK.

Melanoma UK exists to support those with melanoma providing practical and emotional support throughout an individuals cancer journey. Mark Spragg, Managing Director of Where Now Consulting said, “we were delighted to support Melanoma UK. I saw firsthand the wonderful support that they gave to one of my relatives. Sadly, my cousin lost his wife and the mother of their young family to melanoma after a long battle against the disease. I know that the charity provided real support both to Rebecca and the whole family over the many years of treatment that followed her initial diagnosis”.

We know that fundraising is challenging at the moment but hope many more will click the link to our Just Giving page and donate.

In the meantime, look after yourselves.

  • Seek shade when possible
  • Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF of at least 30 and reapply every two hours
  • Cover up with clothing, sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat
  • Try to avoid being in the sun between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m
  • Limit the use of tanning beds – exposure to tanning beds before age 30 increases a person’s risk of developing melanoma by 75%

Even more good news is that the team have save over 370kg of carbon compared to their normal commute to work!
