Work starts on Scotland’s advanced manufacturing innovation district

The University of Strathclyde has begun work on a new manufacturing district in Renfrewshire. The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) will be based next to Glasgow Airport and is expected to become the heart of Scotland’s manufacturing industry, boosting the sector by £535 million in GVA, and creating up to 6,000 jobs.

North West start-ups ‘struggling with investment know-how’

A new survey of tech start-ups and mentors by Tech Manchester has revealed that only 19% of start-ups in the North West felt they had the appropriate knowledge or confidence in raising investment at the beginning of its 12-month programme.

High-spec hi-fi maker secures £1m loan to back R&D and market growth

Scottish hi-fi manufacturer Linn Products has secured £1 million funding from Barclays to invest in product innovation and expand into new markets. The company has also secured an exclusive deal to launch a new wireless music system in Harrods in October.

Consumer products giant sells off two international businesses

Manchester based consumer goods company PZ Cussons has entered into agreements to sell Minerva, its Greek food subsidiary, and Luksja, its personal care brand. The proceeds from the sale will be used to reduce existing debt and drive investment.
