Scottish small firms’ market uncertainty concerns grow
Market uncertainty concerns has been highlighted as Scottish business’ main barrier to growth, with 71% of small businesses stating they feel stifled by factors beyond their control, according to a new study. According to a study published by Hitachi Capital Business Finance, 41% of small businesses in Scotland cited market uncertainty as their main barrier to growth, up from 36% six months previously.

Service Centre sector continues to deteriorate says CBI
Business optimism in the service sector fell in the three months to November, but at a slower pace than before, according to the CBI Service Sector Survey. Sentiment declined in both business and professional services sub-sector and the consumer services sub-sector with both reporting falling sentiment for more than a year.

Number of Scottish firms selling on social media lags the rest of the UK
Research by PayPal has revealed the number of Scottish businesses selling via social media (21%) is falling behind the global average (35%). PayPal’s annual Commerce Index report suggests that the gap between Scotland and the UK could widen as the number of businesses in the rest of the UK selling on social media is expected to double in the next six months.
