British productivity ‘held back by managers’, Lloyds Bank survey shows

Productivity in Britain’s largest manufacturing companies is being held back by poor management, skills shortages and being too slow to adopt new technologies, according to a report by Lloyd’s Bank.

Enhanced 4G and 5G capability to boost Scottish economy by £17 billion

A new report examining Scotland’s digital potential with enhanced 4G and 5G capability has found that greater digital connectivity could boost the Scottish economy by as much as £17 billion. The report, a collaboration between Deloitte and the Scottish Future Trusts, also found that it could deliver other economic, social and environmental benefits such as creating 3,000 new businesses, 160,000 new jobs and greater access to healthcare and education.

Edinburgh is UK No2 for earnings in tech sector

Edinburgh has strengthened its status as one of the UK’s leading tech hubs after contributing almost £4 billion to the economy in 2018, according to Tech Nation’s Bright Tech Future Jobs/Skills report. The number of digital jobs in the tech sector grew at a rate three times faster than the national average and now employs almost 60,000 people.
