Housebuilding and infrastructure expected to drive Scottish construction growth

Chartered surveyors in Scotland have predicted a boost in construction activity through a rise in housebuilding in 2020, according to a new report. The latest UK Construction and Infrastructure Market Survey from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors showed a net balance of +37% of Scottish respondents expect workloads to be higher in a year’s time, with public and private housing and infrastructure cited as driving the activity – with a net balance of 25% Scottish respondents expecting private housebuilding to increase, one of the strongest rates in the UK.

RBS backs female-led start-ups with £1 billion fund

The Royal Bank of Scotland has announced it is to invest £1 billion to support female entrepreneurs launch their own businesses. The Female Entrepreneurship Funding aims to support and inspire 500,000 people to consider starting a business, of which at least 60% will be female – in order to help create 50,000 businesses by 2023.

Kellogg to create 70 jobs in warehouse deal

The Kellogg Company has announced it is to move into a warehouse at Bericote’s 525 Haydock, thought to be the region’s largest speculative industrial unit, creating up to 70 new jobs. The cereal and snacks manufacturer agreed the multi-million pound deal earlier this month and plans to support the distribution of its products across the UK and exports to the EU and the Middle East.
