Music industry boost Scottish economy by £400 million

The music industry in Scotland generated £431 million of spending in Scotland last year and sustained 4,300 full-time jobs, according to a new report by UK Music. Scotland saw the strongest growth of music tourism in the UK as numbers increased from 800,000 visitors in 2017 to 1.1 million in 2018 (38%), with only London, the South East and North West of England bringing more visitors to the country.

Experts call for more inclusive growth in Greater Manchester

Experts are calling for leaders in Greater Manchester to commit to more inclusive growth in a new report. The University of Manchester’s Inclusive Growth Analysis Unit and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation state that while the Greater Manchester region has taken important steps towards inclusive growth, leaders need to go further by making inclusive growth their key goal to create economic prosperity that benefits everyone.

Vision for National Manufacturing Institute Scotland revealed

A formal planning application has been submitted for a £65 million centre aimed to boosting productivity and innovation across Scotland’s manufacturing sector. The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) at the centre of the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland will be an industry-led centre of manufacturing expertise led by the Scottish Government in partnership with the University of Strathclyde and Renfrewshire Council.

Scheme which would have seen 1,200 jobs created in Liverpool is scrapped

A plan that would have created more than 1,200 jobs in Liverpool have been scrapped as YPG Developments withdraws involvement. YPG Developments announced in 2017 that it was working with The Contact Company to build a call centre on the Kings Dock.
