The City of London extracts wealth from the rest of the UK’s regions, inquiry submission finds

A report analysing regional imbalances has found that the City of London’s “financial superstructure extracts wealth from Britain’s regions”. The analysis challenges the conventional view of London and the South East as disproportionate wealth creators which the rest of the UK’s regions benefit from through tax redistribution.

Political uncertainty sees fall in NW acquisitions by overseas firms

Firms in the North West have seen a fall in acquisitions by overseas firms, with only 21 investments made by overseas buyers in North West assets bringing the total number of cross-border deals involving North West firms to 43 – down from 66, compared to the previous twelve months, according to Deloitte.
