Smart Villages Scotland pilot to help create ‘digital communities’

The Scottish Government has pledged £100,000 to create ‘digital communities’ among rural businesses in Scotland. The Smart Villages Scotland pilot scheme will facilitate networking events and online mentoring, partnering young entrepreneurs with older business owners to exchange skills.

Research: B2B marketers ‘struggle to deliver’ integrated marketing strategies

Skout, a North West based B2B communications agency, has found that more than half of Business to Business (B2B) marketers are failing to drive multi-channel campaigns due to a lack of knowledge, according to new research. The study surveyed 100 senior marketing professionals in the UK and found that 63% felt they were not taking advantage of different marketing channels, with a further 46% struggling to integrate these channels.

Scottish explosive factory fuels growth at defence giant

Defence contractor group Chemring swung to an annual profit on slightly better-than-expected performance, led by a ‘strong’ showing from its sensors & information division. Chemring said the operation was increasingly securing long-term contracts with customers which was supporting a ‘greater short and medium-term visibility’.

Multi-million pound deal for education resource business

A supplier of resources and equipment for school in the UK is to be acquired by public sector buying organisation YPO for £50 million. Studio Retail Group announced it has sold its education business Findel for £50 million as it reported a slump in profits in its interim results following a spike in additional PPI claims.
