Scottish jobless total continues to fall

Unemployment in Scotland remains at an historic low, as the jobless total fell by 7,000 in the three months to March. Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show Scotland’s unemployment rate is 3.2%, below the UK average of 3.8%.

The numbers of people in work at record levels as fewer women retire

Unemployment in the North West has fallen to near record levels, down 7,000 to 136,000 in the three months to March, as fewer women between the ages of 60 and 65 are retiring.
