CompTIA: IT trade association ranks Manchester #1 in UK for IT careers

CompTIA, a US based IT trade association, has released a new report identifying the best location in the UK for IT careers. The report examined IT employment opportunities in more than 200 British towns and cities in terms of projected growth in IT demands, IT investments, R&D and cost of living and concluded that while London is often regarded as the go-to option for IT, it is not the best choice in the UK for IT careers.

Business activity stagnating as new orders and staffing fall

The latest Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) report found business activity remained unchanged in September, following three months of growth. Firms in the private sector continued to cut staff numbers due to uncertainty and shortages of candidates, marking the third consecutive month of falling employment.

Full-fibre broadband could boost UK economy by £60 billion

A new report by the Centre for Economics & Business Research showed that a wide scale roll out of Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) broadband could a deliver productivity boost of up to £60 billion. The Full Fibre Broadband: A Platform for Growth report found that enhanced connectivity could improve public services and benefit the population by reducing commuting times by enabling smarter ways of working.
