Amazon brings cloud computing learning to City of Glasgow College
More than 35 educators at the City of Glasgow College have received training from Amazon under its global Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate initiative. The initiative aims to address the need for tech skills in the workplace by providing educational institutions, educators, and students with the resources needed to accelerate cloud-related learning and prepare students to enter a cloud-enabled workplace.

New AMRC facility to be built in Samlesbury, Lancashire
The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) has received planning permission to build a £20 million facility at the hear of Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone. The project is to be funded through the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP)’s Growth Deal and will focus on vehicle electrification, battery assembly and light weighting technologies.
Scottish fintech adds Japan and Korea to global digital payment network
Edinburgh based FinTech firm Paysend has expanded its global money transfers service by launching in Japan and South Korea. Paysend offers card-to-card global money transfers, with over 1.2 million users and facilitating payments to more than 70 countries including China, India, Philippines, Poland, Nigeria and Ukraine. This month it also added Ukbekistan and will extend to Canada early in 2020.

Investment milestones marked by key North West players
White Oak UK, a UK based alternative provider of business finance, has exceeded £1.5 billion in lending since its launch four years ago. In the past 12 months White Oak UK has written almost 8,000 deals at an average loan size of £36,000, and deals have originated from a mix of direct, introduced, brokered, marketing and aggregated channels.
