A third consecutive profit warning is proving to be the ‘knock-out blow’ for listed businesses in Scotland, with 11% of companies facing a major restructuring event, including an administration, distressed sale, or debt restructure within a year. Analysis by EY based on the last 20 years found that almost one in five Scottish PLCs have de-listed within a year of issuing three or more successive profit warnings.

North West private sector sees sharper fall in new work and business activity
Private sector businesses in the North West experienced a challenging month in November with a contraction in new work leading to further reductions in business activity and employment, according to the latest NatWest North West Business Activity Index. there was also a fall in input cost inflation moderated, while business confidence improved on the back of expectations of greater clarity regarding Brexit.
Scottish private sector output expands, says RBS survey
Scottish private sector output rose in November for the first time since August, with business confidence hitting a four month high, according to the latest Royal Bank of Scotland Purchasing Managers’ Index. RBS said the November data highlighted “some positive signs” for the Scottish private sector, including a “moderate” increase in staffing levels after four months of decline.
