RICS: weak economic outlook constrains Scottish construction sector optimism
Optimism in the Scottish construction sector has weakened in the third quarter of 2019, according to the RICS UK Construction and Infrastructure Market Survey. The survey suggests that political uncertainty surrounding Brexit, skills shortages and planning hold ups are impacting confidence of businesses operating in the sector.
North witnesses solid rise in permanent staff appointments in October
The North of England has experienced a strong upturn in permanent staff placements, according to KPMG and REC’s latest UK Report on Jobs: North of England. The report revealed an increase in permanent appointments, as well as a modest rise in temporary billings, however the supply of labour decreased, adding to upward pressure on wages.
Scottish firms scoop two prizes at EY UK Entrepreneur of the Year Awards
Two Scottish business leaders have been crowned winners at the UK EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 awards. Poonam Gupta won the Scale up award for her entrepreneurial approach to business growth, while joint MD of J&D Wilkie Jean Christophe Granier won the Transformational Leader title.

Industry leaders hired as co-chairs for Pro-Manchester’s new FinTech committee
Following the launch of a new FinTech committee in the North of England, MIDAS and North West business development organisation Pro-Manchester have announced Kimberley Waldron, MD of SkyParlour, and Mark Robinson, client director at Finch, have been selected to head up the committee which aims to address challenges and drive collaboration within the sector.
