Number of Scottish businesses hits record high

The number of small private sector businesses in Scotland has hit a record high, according to Scottish Government figures. The Scottish government’s Businesses in Scotland report reveals there was 365,550 private sector businesses operating in Scotland, a 2.8% increase between March 2018 and March this year.

Construction sector optimism weakens in North West as workloads fall

The North West’s construction sector has experienced a decrease in optimism, according to the results of the quarterly RICS Construction and Infrastructure Market Survey. The housing market slowdown, in addition to economic and political uncertainty is hampering investment decisions resulting in a notable deceleration in workloads.

Glasgow named cultural and creative ‘centre’ of UK

Glasgow has been named the UK’s top cultural and creative city as part of a landmark report by the European Commission. The Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor 2019 report put Glasgow ahead of London, Bristol, Brighton and Manchester which make up the top five cities in the UK.
