Glasgow businesses target visitor economy with new initiative
A new business network has been revealed to help boost Glasgow’s tourism and visitor economy. Experience Glasgow will be supported by Scottish Enterprise and will focus on strengthening the visitor experience across Glasgow by developing strong commercial partnerships and encouraging innovation among local businesses across all sectors; including accommodation, tours, attractions and restaurants, to deliver quality experiential tourism products.
Manufacturing SMEs invest £5.4M to adopt new technologies in first year of Made Smarter
Small and Medium sized enterprises in the North West have invested £5.4 million to adopt new technologies, supported by £1.6 million of funding from national industrial digitalisation program Made Smarter. The Made Smarter North West pilot is working with SMEs to help them introduce digital tools and technologies to help boost productivity and growth. The support given includes one-to-one advice, digital road mapping workshops, leadership and management training programmes and funded three-month student placements.
Glasgow fintech Beeks Financial Cloud pushes button on growth plans
Glasgow-based Beeks Financial Cloud Group has announced plans to expand after receiving a £2 million R&D grant to invest in automating its network from Scottish Enterprise. The funding will allow Beeks to fully automate their network infrastructure, enhance their ability to capitalise on the growing adoption of cloud computing infrastructure and enable the company to broaden its product offering.
BGF passes £300M of North West investments
BGF’s North West team has invested £311 million across 34 businesses in the region with £59 million of that total invested in the past 12 months, new data has revealed. New investments included Manchester-headquartered FinTech company Planixs, international schools group Orbital Education and Joloda International, a fast-growing manufacturing firm based in Merseyside.
