Advanced manufacturing district in Scotland primed to deliver thousands of jobs
Construction has underway on a new manufacturing district in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) will house companies harnessing new technologies and accessing cutting edge research and plans to create thousands of high value jobs for the manufacturing sector.
UK consumers keep lid on spending in October – surveys
According to a new survey, consumer spending in the UK slowed in October as ongoing economic uncertainty hits consumer confidence. The British Retail Consortium (BRC) said overall retail spending rose 0.6% year-on-year in October, with the 12 month rolling average of sales growth falling to 0.1%.
New report shows investment in tech scale-ups quadruples
A new report analysing early stage investment and growth stage investment in European tech businesses has found that 2019 was a record year for late stage investment, with more than 52 deals of €100 million being recorded across Europe. The figures also show that the UK and Germany were the performed best in terms of tech scale-up financing, with €15.3 billion invested in mega funding rounds from 2015 to 2019.
WeWork ‘pulls plug’ on plan for Glasgow office letting
Plans to open co-working offices in Glasgow have collapsed amid concerns relating to the strength of WeWork’s contract following its failed flotation in September and subsequent rescue deal with SoftBank.
