‘Suffocating’ UK factories report biggest fall in output in seven years – PMI

Manufacturing in the UK is ‘suffocating’ as output fell to a seven year low, with companies scaling back output in a response to a drop in orders amid concerns over a no-deal Brexit, according to the latest Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).

Business confidence falls across region

Business confidence in the North West fell 17 points to 3%, confidence in business prospects fell 22 points to 3% and companies’ optimism in the economy fell 12 points to 2% in July, according to the latest Business Barometer from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
