A Less Lonely Business

Find out more about Where Now Consulting.

As businesses have moved into the lockdown period many have closed their doors in line with guidance, furloughed staff or moved to operating via Zoom. At a time when business has become more disconnected from staff, customers and suppliers many have found the benefits of being part of a “like minded” group. Trade associations and membership organisations such as the CBI and IOD have played a central role in creating opportunities for a collective voice to government and in providing help, guidance and access to expertise to support their membership.

We have been working with the British Contract Furniture Association (BCFA) throughout the pandemic to support its activities, providing research into the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the sector, which has been used as part of the BCFA’s discussions with the government department for Business, Energy and Industrial strategy (BEIS). In addition, we have been organising weekly BCFA Business Webinars bringing together experts from a wide range of specialisms to support the membership as they plan for the restart after the lockdown.

These activities, alongside other webinars organised by the BCFA and its work with an All-Party Parliamentary Group of MPs, who actively support the sector, have created opportunities for its membership to have a voice with government and to access specialists to benefit from a range of viewpoints.

Being a business leader can be a lonely place in normal times but in the current circumstances this sense of being alone can be amplified as worries about future demand, cashflows and the health and safety of our teams all compete for attention. Trade associations and your professional advisors are an ideal route to reduce this loneliness.
